Cartmel is famous for two things: firstly the 12th Century Priory and secondly for delicious sticky toffee pudding, which is a must.

The Priory stands in the centre of the village and is used for normal Sunday services. It has a wealth of history and guided tours are available on Wednesdays. The sticky toffee puddings are made locally and sold in the “Old Post Office” Village Shop that caters for the more discerning tastes.
The village also offers 4 cosy pubs, a range of good quality gift shops, a wonderful delicatessen and tearooms. It is also home to L'enclume, a michelin star French restaurant of some renown, and its new offspring Rogan & Co, a bistro/winebar.
The surrounding area offers many interesting and diverse places to visit. We have a selection of brochures available to whet your appetite. There are also many local walks for all abilities and we will be happy to provide reference books and the benefit of our own knowledge to set you on your way.
